I spoke with a friend online today about lyrics, and now I’ve been listening intently to my music for lyrics I like. I’ve decided to post a couple excerpts to avoid studying physics and anatomy. In the process, I’ve noticed that some lyric site are horribly transcribed and are set up for the sole purpose of adspace.

For one final word before the lyrics, I just have to comment on the LOAD of songs that the Neptunes produce. You’ve probably heard their stuff by just about every pop artist out there. It’s always their catchiest songs, too. They produced Gwen Stefani’s entire album, Toxic, Big Pimpin’ (I think) and lots of Snoop Dogg stuff. Also, if you see Pharrell in a video, they probably had a hand in producing the song. Definitely my idols as far as music production goes.

And now for something completely different:

Fred gets his paints out and goes to the basement
Projecting some slides onto a plain white
Canvas and traces it
Fills in the spaces
He turns off the slides, and it doesn’t look right
Yeah, and all of these bastards
Have taken his place
He’s forgotten but not yet gone
And I’m sorry, Mr. Jones
And I’m sorry, Mr. Jones
And I’m sorry, Mr. Jones
It’s time

Fred Jones Pt. 2 – Ben Folds

And he said some got pencils and some got guns
Some know how to stand and some of them run
We don’t get along, but we sing the same song
Party for the fight to write, and write on

Party for the Fight to Write – Atmosphere

There were so many fewer questions
when stars were still just the holes to heaven.

Hole to Heaven – Jack Johnson

Let Go

Drink up baby down
Are you in or are you out?
Leave your things behind
‘Cause it’s all going off without you
Excuse me too busy you’re writing a tragedy
These mishaps
Your bubble-wrap
When you’ve no idea what you’ll like.

Let Go – Frou Frou – (Discovered by me on the Garden State soundtrack, WELL worth the money!)

When you are flying around and around the world
And I’m lying alonely
I know there’s something sacred and free reserved
And received by me only.

You’ve got a secret smile, and you use it only for me.

Secret Smile – Semisonic
